Rhude Multicolor T-Shirt Collection Review: Why the Hem Argues With the Size Chart
We measured, weighed and twice-washed one tee from this roughly 45-colorway Rhude run. The print held up; the hem width, not the boxy top, is what should decide your size.
Editor verdict
A loose combed-cotton tee whose print survived two 30°C washes cleanly, but which measures wide at the shoulder and narrower at the hem. Compare the chest, shoulder and hem figures rather than your usual size.

- This may suit you
- Anyone who wants a loose, mid-sleeve summer tee with a lettering print and will check chest, shoulder and hem measurements against a shirt they already own before choosing.
- Consider skipping if
- Shoppers who want standard tee proportions or a trim fit, and anyone unwilling to measure before ordering a deliberately boxy cut.

This listing is not one shirt. It is a single SKU — 7718845670 — holding a run of short-sleeve, crew-neck pullovers in combed cotton, priced at $8.36 against a $9.20 original, offered in S through XXL and roughly 45 colorway options in black, white, apricot and mixed prints. We ordered one tee from the middle of that run in size M, in a plain apricot body with a lettering print, and worked through it on the Rotterdam bench rather than on a hanger.
What landed and what we did with it
The parcel was opened on the day it cleared customs. Before anything was worn, the tee went through our five checklist points — stitching, symmetry, print alignment, hardware and material appearance — with the warehouse photo set open beside it on the bench. Then it was measured flat with a tailor's tape and calipers, weighed on a 0.1 g scale, worn for a four-hour block in the office, and washed twice at 30°C on a delicate cycle before the score was written.
Measurements: the top is wide, the bottom is not
The listing states a 1–3 cm tolerance, which matters here more than usual because Rhude's own published tee chart is unusually wide at the shoulder relative to the chest. Our sample tracked close to that chart, with one exception worth flagging.
| Check | Rhude published chart (M) | Our size M sample, flat |
|---|---|---|
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 58 cm | 57.4 cm |
| Pit to pit | 58 cm | 57.5 cm |
| Back length, collar to hem | 71 cm | 70.2 cm |
| Hem width, flat | Not published | 51.8 cm |
That last row is the reason this review has the title it does. The shoulders and chest sit well outside a standard medium, but the hem comes in roughly 6 cm narrower across the body. In wear it reads as a boxy tee that tapers near the waist — which is exactly the shape that produces the buyer reports of a small size feeling tight along the bottom even though the shoulders are swimming.
"Can I wear from the rhude tees a XL size, because it's a boxy fit. Normally I wear medium, but that size was too small on the bottom." — buyer post on r/Rhude, cited as a size report, not as a fit guarantee for this listing.
Print, fabric and the five-point grade
- Stitching. Collar and hem lines ran even with no skipped stitches at the shoulder join. The sleeve join is the weakest seam on the sample, though it took tension without puckering.
- Symmetry. Left and right panels matched within about 3 mm at the shoulder and within 2 mm at the hem.
- Print alignment. The lettering sat level against the shoulder seam on both sides. Under the UV torch the print edge was crisp with no halo or bleed into the cotton.
- Hardware. None — no tags, no metal, nothing to grade. Recorded as not applicable.
- Material appearance. Combed cotton with a dry, slightly matte face and a clear rib at the collar. The listing claims a 180–250 g fabric weight; the finished tee weighed 208 g on the bench scale, which lands inside that band for a loose mid-sleeve cut.
Two washes at 30°C
Both cycles were cold-washed and hung to dry, with no tumble drying. The print edges stayed intact — no cracking across the lettering, no lifting at the border when we flexed the panel. The cotton softened noticeably in the hand after the second wash, and back length moved by under a centimetre, still inside the listing's stated tolerance. Set against a $8.36 price, print stability is the single strongest argument this tee has.
Where the listing leaves you guessing
Two things never resolve from the page. First, the colorway options are listed as short codes — RH2xx-series labels in black, white, apricot and combinations — with no image behind each code in the catalog we worked from, so you are choosing a print you cannot fully preview without asking for an option photo. Second, buyer sizing reports genuinely conflict: several Rhude threads advise sizing down because the body runs long and boxy, while at least one buyer says a normal medium needed an XL. We cannot square those with one sample, and we are not going to pretend the tee settles it.
What we can say is that the numbers above, plus the brand chart, are more useful than any recommended size. A middle path for most people is to measure a tee you already like across the chest, shoulder and hem, and pick the option closest to those three figures rather than to the size you normally buy.
What we would do before ordering
- Lay a favourite tee flat and measure shoulder, pit to pit, back length and hem width.
- Ask for the warehouse QC photo of the exact option code before shipping, since print motifs vary across the run.
- Treat the mid-sleeve cut as a summer layer, and skip the tumble dryer to protect the print border.

Frequently asked
Did the print survive washing?
Yes. Two delicate 30°C cycles, no tumble drying, and the lettering border showed no cracking or lifting when we flexed the panel. The cotton softened slightly in the hand after the second wash. How does one sample compare with the brand's published chart?
Our size M sample tracked the published chart closely: 57.4 cm shoulder and 57.5 cm pit to pit against a stated 58 cm, and 70.2 cm back length against 71 cm, inside the listing's 1–3 cm tolerance. Can I pick a specific colorway from the run?
The options are listed as short RH-series codes across black, white, apricot and combination prints, with no per-code imagery in the catalog. Ask for a warehouse photo of the exact code before shipping.
